C’MON ALREADY. Acti-Blizzard has gone mad with these Guitar Hero games. Bringing it to the DS wasn’t a great idea, but it wasn’t that bad either. Then there that toy in the cereal box. Okay, fine, I’ll give you that one too because it’s not technically your doing, though you gave the license to use the name. But now this? C’mon already, it’s not even Guitar Hero, you playing DDR with your character and handing out flyers to people. This is not right. Somebody please stop them.

*EDIT: I just watched it again and noticed something, OVER 25 HOURS OF GAMEPLAY? WHAT?

I really hope that this game does well. Because it looks awesome. I’ve been waiting a long time to see a proper shape shifter game and this game looks like it has the potential to deliver. So since Nintendo is telling Harmonix to go stab themselves about the whole “Wii Hard Drive” issue. Harmonix is now working with SanDisk, and they are going to release Rock Band SD cards, where you simply download the songs to the SD card from the store. This is scheduled to come out in spring sometime for about $13 USD.  (Not that bad I suppose). So yay for the Wii owners with Rock Band 2, using the SD slot as an external storage for games, but a hard drive of some sort would be better, c’mon on Nintendo.

No world on Valve what this update is going to be about. Maybe a lot of changes. I hope you get to do something if your survivor and you die first, or play as zombies when you die as a special zombie, or even play as the witch or something. Who knows. Maybe a new map, that would be nice, or release tools for like customs map, that would be interesting too. But whatever it is, I can’t wait to find out. Stay tuned for what the update will be, I’ll post as soon as I find out.

Valkyria Chronicles: Review Part One January 7, 2009

So I am going to be reviewing Valkyria Chronicles a game recently released by SEGA which is exclusive to the PS3. Though you may not have heard much about this game it is a definate must have on the sole basis that it looks and plays beautifully. Like my friend Anson pointed out they have done a horrible job at marketing such a wonderful game. The art work in the game is like that of a painting and it gives it a interesting perspective because essentially as the player you are the reader of the history of this war as you are playing it. The characters are very deep and the voice acting is extensive as there are about 30 characters within the first quarter of the game with voices.

So the story setting is based in a fictional Europe where Eastern European Imperialists and the is that the need for a fuel source called “Ragnite” has now sparked the war between them and the Atlantic Federation. Anyways the story gets deeper and the plot thickens, and you end up following the story of Welkin Gunther and is the son of a war hero from the past war. The second most important character in my opinion if Welkin’s tank named Edelwiess, if you ask why… Well 1 its a tank, and 2 its a TANK. In all seriousness it does actually play a role in the story so I thought it was rather neat.

So I am come about 1/3 of the game and my first impression… Its a great game and is beautifully directed and the combat system is fresh and works very well. The only place where it is somewhat lacking is the gameplay area. Now you may say “WHAT?! it’s a game what could you possibly mean?!” Well put it this way for about every 15-20 min of cutscene there is about 5 min of game play it is just rediculous but I am hoping for it to get better at the end game.

Valkyria Chronicles WANTS YOU January 5, 2009

So lets face it, Valkyria Chronicles hasn’t done that well since it’s come out. With it watercolour like art work and its great storyline and unique gameplay, it’s a shame that this game isn’t getting as much recognition that it should be. But to think that Sega would go THIS far to get people to buy and play their game. How about a demo? Rather than, say… propaganda or some sort? I don’t find this very tempting but some people might. Sega’s crazy.
