Look how happy Murakami looks. And look at what he’s wearing! He went to the Art Basel in Miami dressed in a full body suit of his own flowery characters. Gotta love a guy who can go to an art show dressed like that. Murakami is definitely one of a kind. Guess who else was at the show? None other than Pharrell, showing off his “Perspective Chair”. Murakami is reported to open up a studio in LA under the name Kaikai Kiki. While he already has a studio set up in New York, this location will probably allow him to focus on the animation and film perspective of art. He’s working on a fully animated feature based off of the animated short Planting the Seeds. Apparently the story is about Kaikai Kiki and co learning how to grow watermelons with the help of fertilizer they call ‘poop’. The pictures remind me of Miyazaki’s movies. Wild and imaginative. I will looking forward to this movie to come out.
